Name: "Sturgeon
Bay Dock"
Captured: October, 22 2006
Biography: My family and I have been traveling to
Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin for the past four years. In October we pack
up and stay in a cabin near the beautiful waters of Lake Michigan.
Wisconsin is like a second home to me, and I feel drawn to the land
and water. The weather at this time of the year is often very melancholy
and that mood compliments black and white photography. I am never
without my camera while I am there, and this day was no exception.
After dining with my family near dusk at a Sturgeon Bay restaurant;
I wandered down onto some docks to gaze into the water. Everything
was very grey, and there was a silky mist barely visible hanging
in the air. The docks looked like silver landing strips surrounded
by polished black marble on either side. It’s moments like
these that make me wish I could stop time and I am glad to be alone.
As I witnessed the magic of this moment, everyone else was shut
away inside where it is warm. In trading warmth for a full soul,
at the close of this day mine was full to the brim as I stood on
the “Sturgeon Bay Dock”.
